My vision is not to start over: it is to build on that momentum through thoughtful governance, strong partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to student success.

Every decision should help create the conditions for students, educators, and families to thrive.
Cultivating the Conditions for Success
Student achievement doesn't happen in isolation. It depends on outstanding educators, engaged families, strong community partnerships, and learning opportunities that extend beyond the school day.

The School Board has a responsibility to cultivate the conditions that allow students to thrive by supporting educator recruitment and retention, strengthening family engagement, investing in out-of-school time opportunities, promoting safe and welcoming schools, and ensuring every student feels a genuine sense of belonging. When we care for the whole child and work together as a community, every student has a greater opportunity to succeed.

Students don't succeed because of one program... they succeed because of an entire community committed to their success.
Literacy Opens Every Door
Every Detroit student deserves the opportunity to read at or above grade level. Literacy is the foundation for success in every subject and one of the strongest predictors of future achievement.

As a Board Member, I will support governance that prioritizes literacy by establishing clear goals, monitoring progress, allocating resources responsibly, and ensuring the District has the accountability and strategic oversight needed to help every student succeed.

While instructional decisions belong to educators and district leadership, the Board's responsibility is to cultivate the conditions that make those efforts successful.
​
Success looks like more students reading at or above grade level every year.
Governing with Purpose
Effective school boards don't manage schools, they create the conditions for schools to succeed.

The Board's responsibility is to establish a clear vision, adopt sound policies, steward taxpayer resources responsibly, hire and evaluate the Superintendent, and monitor progress toward measurable student outcomes.

It is not the Board's role to manage classrooms, direct principals, or make day-to-day operational decisions. By remaining focused on governance, accountability, and strategic oversight, the Board empowers educators and district leadership to do their best work while ensuring every decision remains centered on student success.
